Supplement Regimen 2017

My supplement routine is not stagnant, but rather ebbs and flows with whatever is occurring in my life. When I feel like I’m getting sick or when I’m about to get my period, for example, I take a different combination of things than my daily pill popping. Below is a list of a few different combinations, so you can see what’s up(pplements) below:

The general routine:

I take all of these in the morning:

  • probiotic (Silver Fern)
  • omega-3 (Nordic Naturals)
  • active B complex (integrative therapeutics)
  • Vitamin D (Pure Encapsulations) – I take this because I am deficient, which I discovered after my appointment with an integrative doctor at Go Harvey
  • 2 brazil nuts per day: help regulate thyroid function, protect against skin and breast cancer (especially for those with the BRCA1 gene), can prevent mercury toxicity, and are a mood booster. Brazil nuts are safe for all population types without nut allergies, though it’s important not to over-do it, otherwise selenium toxicity is possible (more than 5 nuts per day). Make sure to buy the nuts in small batches and refrigerate them so they don’t go rancid.
  • sometimes (if my stress levels are super high): HPA adapt (integrative therapeutics) – this supplement was recommended to me from my integrative doctor over at Go Harvey

I generally think everyone should be taking a probiotic, omega-3, an active B complex, and 2 brazil nuts per day. If I had to tailor down my routine to under 5 things, it would be those. The Vitamin D I ONLY take because I know my levels are low. Consult your healthcare practitioner to get your own levels tested and before making any drastic changes to your routine.

When I have my period:

Three days before and for the first three days of my cycle: 

  • all of the above 
  • 1 ginger capsule in the morning (Pure Encapsulations)
  • 1 turmeric capsule in the morning (Pure Encapsulations)
  • 1 magnesium capsule with lunch (Pure Encapsulations)
  • 1 ginger capsule at night (Pure Encapsulations)
  • 1 turmeric capsule at night (Pure Encapsulations)

If I have a cold / feel myself getting sick:

  • omega-3 (2 pills, once a day) 
  • turmeric – 1 capsule, twice per day with food 
  • Oregano oil: 2 capsules, twice per day
  • Garlic: 1 capsule, twice per day with food AND cook with tons of garlic
  • ginger: 1 capsule, twice per day with food
  • Vitamin D: 4 drops per day
  • Vitamin A: 1 capsules, twice a day, with meals. 
  • Vitamin C: 2 capsules, twice a day, with meals.
  • Elder berry: Take 15 drops in water twice a day to help increase the body’s defense cells. 
  • probiotic (I take Silver Fern Brand. You can use the code lemon10 for 10% off) – 2 per day with meal
  • Zinc lozenge – 1 per day, with meal
  • bone broth (make your own, Bona Fide Provisions, or Vital Protein collagen peptides bone broth) – drink as much as you want throughout the day
